Lavoro promotes fundraising for breast cancer research at IPO – Porto

Lavoro has signed a protocol with IPO – Porto (Oncology Portuguese Institute), which will channel financial resources for breast cancer research. The campaign will focus on sales of its Lavoro Woman range. "Although the mortality rate is decreasing, the truth is that in Portugal about 5000 new cases of breast cancer are detected annually and 1500 women die victims of this disease. It is a reality that shocks us, with which unfortunately we have contact because we are the only producer of professional footwear with models suitable for the anatomy of the female foot", explains Teófilo Leite, chairman of the board of Lavoro. The awareness of this reality motivates Lavoro to be in solidarity and, under the protocol now signed, will donate to the IPO - Porto 1 euro for each pair sold of its models of professional footwear for women, which, according to official statistics, life to technical professions. During the signing ceremony of the protocol, the president of the board of the IPO - Porto, José Laranja Pontes, welcomed the initiative of Lavoro and revealed that "the funds raised will be used to finance research, cancer treatment of the breast and the support to patients with this pathology, which affects one in eight Portuguese women’’.
